In early 2024, the acclaimed restaurateur approached Oui Chef with a bold vision: to create a bespoke dining utensil at every place setting that would elevate the guest experience in his restaurant.
Chef A.Wong’s Concept
A refined tool that would blend the precision of culinary tweezers with the cultural heritage of chopsticks - but without any of the awkwardness of beginner-level utensils. These were not to be rookie stix.
From our first sketches to the final prototype, we explored multiple design pathways - ranging from highly ornate to sleek and streamlined aesthetics. Chef Wong gravitated toward the minimalist vision, combining both functionality and style.
He guided the final refinements; sharper tips for his delicate food, a lightweight feel for effortless use across a full tasting menu and a luxurious finish that would immediately draw the eye - something guests would instinctively reach for as they sat down.
The Result
A stunning fusion of chopsticks and tweezers, hand-finished in mirrored gold for visual impact and tactile pleasure. And the final touch: the tool is carefully weighted to rest horizontally, ensuring the tips remain elevated - hygienic and elegant - whenever not in use.
